U.S. Army Needs FVL Light Recon More Than Black Hawk Successor

The U.S. Army sorely needs an armed scout rotorcraft to conduct missions previously performed by the Bell OH-58 Kiowa Warrior. U.S. Army Hopes For Decision On Lakota Appeal By Fall

The U.S. Army wants to move past its legal dispute with Leonardo Helicopters (formerly AgustaWestland) over the sole-source purchase of UH-72A Lakota helicopters from Airbus, with hopes of a court decision on the government’s appeal by this fall. The Army is moving 187 Lakotas to its training base at the Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Fort Rucker, Alabama, to replace outdated TH-67 and OH-58A/C helicopters, as prescribed under the Army’s Aviation Restructure Initiative…

Boeing Locks in Dutch Chinook Order

Boeing has secured a $541 million contract for 15 heavy-hauling CH-47F Chinook rotorcraft for the Netherlands as it eyes other opportunities with Saudi Arabia, Israel and Germany. The Royal Netherlands Air Force operates the D-model Chinook and has already taken delivery of some CH-47Fs, but is moving forward with plans to modernize its entire fleet.
